In-Store Ordering and Counter Service
Ordering at Firehouse Subs is simple and fast. Walk in, choose your favorite hot specialty sub or cold deli sandwich from our menu board, select your bread type, and specify whether you want your sandwich "Fully Involved" with mayonnaise, deli mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Our sandwich artists assemble your order in plain sight, pass the proteins through our steamers, and serve your hot meal neatly wrapped on a dining tray or packed for takeout.
What does "Fully Involved" mean?
"Fully Involved" is our signature dressing standard: a layer of creamy mayonnaise, spicy deli mustard, crisp shredded iceberg lettuce, sliced ripe tomatoes, and sweet onions. You can customize condiments anytime at no extra charge.
Steaming Process and Temperature Details
We heat our meats and cheeses using specialized commercial food steamers instead of conveyor toasters or microwave ovens. Steam penetrates the meat folds evenly, warming the proteins to safe, savory temperatures while melting cheese directly across the top. This prevents meats from drying out or hardening, preserving maximum juiciness and rich flavor on every sub we serve.
Steam surrounds USDA Choice meats directly, ensuring sliced pastrami, turkey, and slow-smoked brisket remain tender.
While meats are steamed inside our clamshell unit, the bread rolls are toasted separately for a crisp outer bite.
Bread Choices and Allergen Accommodations
We offer freshly toasted artisan white rolls, hearty whole wheat rolls, and individually packaged gluten-sensitive sub rolls. If you or someone in your dining party has a food allergy, please alert our counter staff immediately. While we maintain procedures to prevent ingredient cross-contact, our kitchen handles wheat, dairy, eggs, and soy regularly throughout normal operational hours.
Allergen Protocol Note
Upon request, our team will sanitize surfaces, change food prep gloves, and use a fresh knife to slice your sub. However, because our open-line kitchen bakes and slices traditional bread daily, we cannot guarantee an entirely gluten-free environment.
Large Group and Catering Arrangements
We prepare catering platters, boxed lunches, group salads, and cookie trays for corporate meetings, sporting events, and private gatherings. To ensure your bread is baked fresh and orders are staged accurately, we recommend placing catering orders at least 24 hours in advance. For large orders exceeding fifty boxed lunches, please contact our Queen Street catering coordinator 48 hours prior to your event.
Gift Cards and Payment Methods
We accept Canadian cash, major debit cards, and credit cards at our front counter register. For corporate catering clients, itemized invoices and commercial card payments can be arranged through our store management. Physical gift cards can be purchased and redeemed directly at our counter, making them an excellent gift for friends, family, and coworkers across Toronto.

Why Firehouse Subs Steams Every Protein
Many quick-service sandwich shops push assembled cold subs through dry infrared conveyors, resulting in hard crusts and dried meats. At firehousesubs, we believe temperature precision makes the sandwich.
By placing high-grade brisket, smoked turkey breast, and savory cheeses into an enclosed moisture chamber, steam reaches every fold. The cheese melts into the warm grain of the meat without scorching, creating the distinct melt-in-your-mouth bite that defines our Canadian restaurants.
Planning a First Visit?
We recommend the Hook & Ladder (smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, and melted Monterey Jack) or the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket, both steamed hot and served on your choice of roll.
